Storytelling for Sustainability

Mohit Rao

Mohit M. Rao is a Principal Correspondent with The Hindu for nearly six years now.

The journey, however, has been convoluted thus far. His basic degree is mechanical engineering, and immediately on receiving the degree, he joined the print journalism course at Asian College of Journalism, Chennai.

He then worked for a year in the concrete jungles of Bengaluru, after which, striving for “rural experience” he was given a posting in Mangaluru where he worked for 2.5 years. After having covered communal conflict, caste equations and agrarian crisis in the coastal district, he returned to Bengaluru where he covers environment, forests and wildlife. He is a fellow of the Young Connectors of the Future programme – 2014, as well as India-Germany Media Ambassador – 2016 where he worked in the German paper, Die Tageszeitung, for two months.
He loves writing short stories and recently discovered the thrill of watching insects whizz in forests.
